Our work combines emergency relief with development. We provide life-saving humanitarian aid such as food packs and blankets during the harsh winter. We support long-term livelihoods by helping farmers, training women entrepreneurs, creating jobs and giving cash grants. And we support families by running primary health clinics, nutrition services and education projects. We focus on supporting the most vulnerable populations such as women, girls, orphaned children, people with disabilities and older people. We work closely with other humanitarian organisations and UN agencies. In 2022 we announced a major new partnership with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) to inject cash into the economy, boost food production and support small businesses across Afghanistan. With your support we can help build a better future for people across Afghanistan.

This project will enable children and youth in our community in rural Uganda to plant gardens and fruit trees. The gardens provide an opportunity for environmental education and learning about sustainable farming, while also producing nutritious foods for the needy people. Learning about sustainable farming, while also helping to raise food for poor and needy people is very empowering . This program improves child nutrition and health, increases attendance and enthusiasm for learning, and demonstrates to families how they can continue to farm and help the environment. We hope the success of the programs will inspire others in the region to implement similar projects.

From our practical experience at For Change working with numerous families at risk, we've observed that no matter what we do with the children, achieving success becomes very difficult if we don't work comprehensively with the parents. The idea is to engage parents and extend the family circle to change their attitudes and priorities. They should realize their roles and responsibilities and be willing to shift their priorities. We want to engage specialists such as social workers, medical professionals, psychologists, lawyers, and others, if necessary, to help the parents to create a plan for change. With the donations from this fund, we will provide support in dealing with institutions, offering assistance, counseling, and any other necessary help to the parents so that they can raise their children in safer environment.

Dear VMware colleagues, Being inspired by the charity causes & missions of Vietbay Teens, a group of teenage kids from many high schools in the Bay Area, I'm currently helping them with organizing their annual charity fundraising event and the celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival for children in the Bay Area. Hence, I would like to ask for your support of their fundraising campaign happening in the upcoming October. Witnessing many heartbreaking stories of victim families during the peak of the devastating COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam, this group of high school students formed back in 2021 with the mission to provide support and remedy the consequence of the pandemic. They organized fundraising events, worked both in-person and overseas with many non-profit organizations in Vietnam to support hospitals and COVID patients. As a result of their initiatives in last two years, they were able to sponsor thousands of N95 masks for hospitals in Vietnam and dozens of thousands of FREE meals for COVID-19 patients in 2021 and cancer patients in 2022 who are in difficult situations. This year, they will work with the Hearts for Hue Foundation, a NGO in Vietnam ( https://heartsforhue.org/ ) in supporting people with disabilities and healthcare and educational initiatives. Additionally, a portion of raised money is also used to organize the culture activities in Mid-Autumn Festival for the children & families in the Bay Area. It recently became the first and only Indian organization to be honoured with the ‘UN Population Award 2020’ for its exemplary work in the field of ageing, relief efforts work during the Covid 19 pandemic and recognition of the organization’s outstanding contribution to population issues and efforts in the realization of older persons rights in India. Currently there are a projected 138 million elderly in India. HelpAge India voices their concerns, so they can lead secure & dignified lives. It works through 26 State Offices across India, runs numerous programs on-ground, addressing elder needs and advocating for their rights, such as their right to Universal Pension, quality Healthcare, action against Elder Abuse and many more at a national, state and societal level with Central and State governments. It advocates for elder friendly policies and their implementation thereof. The organization’s programs are focused on direct interventions in the areas of Healthcare (mobile healthcare units, cataract surgeries), Agecare (helplines, senior citizen care homes and day care centres, physiotherapy), Livelihoods (elder-self-help groups; linkages with government schemes), Disaster Response (e.g. covid19 relief response), as well as Advocacy and Awareness on rights and policies relating to elders.

Islamic Relief is providing emergency aid to the flood-stricken regions of Libya. They are working with local partners on the ground to deliver urgently needed relief such as mattresses, blankets, food packs, and other vital aid to affected communities. Islamic Relief was one of the first humanitarian organizations to reach Derna, one of the affected cities, and has already committed an initial £100,000 to provide emergency aid. The situation in Libya is dire, with over 11,300 people reported dead and around 10,000 people still missing. The flooding has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and buildings. Schools and shops have been ordered to close. The city of Derna alone is estimated to have lost over 3,000 residents in the disaster. Islamic Relief’s response aims to address the immediate needs of flood-affected victims and provide them with essential support.
