Beyond the inherent value of promoting and protecting the equal rights of everyone around the world, I believe investing in women's economic and social empowerment is the best way to improve a society's overall wellbeing.

In honor of International Day on the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we created a fund to support organizations whose work tackles one the most serious yet most tolerated human rights violations: violence against women and girls. This group of organizations works towards changing underlying cultural and social behavior, improving laws and the justice system, and eliminating inequality by empowering women and girls. We deeply believe that a world in which women and girls live free from violence and are equal members of society is possible.

This year's theme for International Women's Day is Gender Parity, so along those lines here are some organizations that aid women in achieving parity through healthcare, education and basic services.

The Women@ and Parents@ employee resource groups (ERGs) have joined forces to sponsor the Women@ & Parents@ DoorDash Community Fund! They are coming together to support this 2021 Back to School season, Women’s Equality Day, and to address the humanitarian crises in Afghanistan, Haiti and beyond. DoorDash will match all employee donations, up to $50,000 total, beginning August 26th through September 26th, 2021. The fund will be split evenly among four nonprofits that are expanding access to opportunity for women entrepreneurs, teachers, and youth.
